# GA4 and Meta Pixel: measure real inquiries before spending on ads.

**Author:** [BeeCited](https://beecited.agency/about#beecited-editorial)

Before launching ads, connect your website, analytics and advertising accounts around a clear definition of an inquiry. Track an accepted form submission separately from a button click, verify events and keep the accounts under your control. BeeCited setup starts at $99.

## A click is not a lead.

A visitor clicks “Send”, but a required field is empty. Another tries again after a connection error. A third opens the contact form and leaves. If every button click counts as a conversion, the dashboard tells a better story than the inbox.

For a website inquiry, agree on the point that counts: the selected delivery service or backend has accepted the request. This does not yet mean the person is a qualified customer. Your sales process should assess that separately.

Track form opens and clicks if they help diagnose the journey, but give them different names and meanings. You should be able to compare interest, accepted inquiries and qualified opportunities without confusing one for another.

## What are GA4, Google Tag and Meta Pixel for?

Installing a script is only one part of the job. The setup also needs correct account connections, event definitions and a way to verify them. The business should retain ownership and grant the implementer the access required for the task.

| Tool | Its job in the setup | What it does not replace |
| --- | --- | --- |
| GA4 | Analyze visits, traffic sources and meaningful website events. | Your inbox, CRM or assessment of lead quality. |
| Google Tag / Tag Manager | Implement and manage the agreed measurement tags. | A plan defining what should count. |
| Meta Pixel | Send agreed website events to the connected Meta advertising setup. | A check that the inquiry was actually accepted. |
| Advertising accounts | Use the agreed conversion signals when evaluating campaigns. | Ownership, correct configuration and business follow-up. |

## Define the events before installing more tags.

Start with a short event map. For each action, write down the trigger, the destination platform and how it will be tested. Google documents generate_lead as a recommended GA4 event for a new lead, including one created through a form.

For an accepted inquiry, we can map the business action to GA4 generate_lead and a Meta Lead event, then configure the agreed advertising conversion. These are separate platform signals for the same defined action; their dashboard counts do not have to match exactly.

Do not assign an invented monetary value to every inquiry. If the business has a defensible value model, document it. Otherwise start with an honest count and assess quality through the sales process.

| Visitor action | How to treat it |
| --- | --- |
| Opens the form | Interest or a journey step; not an accepted inquiry. |
| Clicks Send with an invalid field | A failed attempt; no lead event. |
| Submission is accepted | The agreed inquiry event, once for that submission. |
| Revisits a thank-you page | Do not count a fresh inquiry just because the page was opened again. |
| Sales confirms a suitable customer | Lead qualification; keep distinct from the website event. |

## Test both the success and the failure.

Use a test inquiry that can be identified in the delivery destination. Confirm it was accepted, then inspect the event name, parameters and number of occurrences. Google’s DebugView and Tag Assistant help inspect GA4 implementation.

Repeat with an invalid field, a failed request, a double click and a reload of the confirmation page. For the connected advertising setup, inspect the corresponding test events too. Keep a short record of the expected and observed result.

Check for duplicate installation: a site plugin, a hard-coded script and a tag-manager container may overlap. Do not fix a mismatch by arbitrarily doubling or suppressing events. Find which trigger fired and why.

## Keep campaign links understandable.

Use a consistent naming convention for traffic sources, media and campaigns. Google documents UTM parameters for identifying campaign referrals in Analytics.

For example, a business can agree on one name for a campaign and use it consistently across its links. Do not mix several spellings of the same campaign or put a customer’s email in the URL. Save the naming rules where the person creating ads can find them.

Expect differences between analytics, ad-platform reporting and the number of inquiries your team qualifies. Compare definitions, attribution and observation periods before deciding the implementation is broken. The accepted request remains the operational evidence that an inquiry arrived.

## Send measurement data, not the contents of the form.

Google Analytics prohibits sending personally identifiable information such as names or email addresses. Review event parameters, page URLs and query strings so form data does not leak into measurement.

Where consent controls are required for the site, tags must follow the user’s choice. Google’s consent-mode documentation describes default and updated consent states. Connecting that logic is a technical task; it does not replace deciding the site’s privacy policy and legal requirements.

A useful test checks both permitted and restricted states. Simply having a banner on the screen is not evidence that tags respond correctly. Agree who supplies the consent tool and policy, and who checks the connection.

## What does setup from $99 include?

BeeCited’s analytics and tracking service starts at $99. We agree the website, accounts and events first, then connect the relevant Google Tag or Tag Manager, GA4, Meta Pixel and client-owned advertising accounts within that scope.

The work includes an agreed event map, implementation, verification and handover of the configuration. Account creation or cleanup, access problems, a broken form or a complicated integration can affect the scope and quote.

Server-side tracking, Meta Conversions API, CRM imports and ecommerce measurement require a separate discussion when needed. They are not automatically included in the starting price. Advertising campaign management and ad spend are also separate from installing measurement.

- Access remains in the client’s accounts, with implementation permissions agreed in advance.
- The handover identifies the tags, events, triggers and accounts used.
- Verification covers an accepted inquiry and the main failure scenarios.
- The business knows what the measured conversion means and what it does not measure.

## What to send before the setup.

Send your website, the action you want to measure and a list of the analytics and advertising accounts you already use. Mention the form’s delivery destination, existing plugins and consent tool if you know them.

We can then define a contained setup or identify the repair needed first. You will be ready to evaluate campaigns using a meaningful signal instead of paying for traffic while guessing which inquiries reached you.
